Barcelona
Sunday April 9,2017 finds us in Barcelona. This is the end of the first leg of our cruise. Around 380 guests are continuing on to Venice. The rest are new guests.
We have visited Barcelona several times in the past. So instead of taking a tour, we decided to stay on board and have the ship almost to ourselves. Today is Palm Sunday so you could not see so of the sites until the afternoon. And since we were here last year, we felt it better to stay on the ship.
We swam for one hour. They were not going to open the pool until 11 am but we asked the man who takes the nets off, if he could open it earlier. He called up to the bridge and the bridge needed to contact the engineer, so we left. Had breakfast and then down to the suite. I decided to go up and sit by the pool to do some needlepoint. When the man saw me, he called again and this time got the go ahead to open the pool. I called the suite to tell Bob and he came up and we swam. The only ones on the pool deck. Like I said, our private pool.
Had an early lunch at the pool grill before the new guests started to arrive. Now working on the blog. They had closed our internet and reopened it at noon.
The other night, when we were eating in Pacific Rim, I commented that our food was not hot. They wanted us to come back so we did the following night. They could not do enough for us. We had the best table in the place and everyone made sure our food was just right. I don't like to complain, but this time it paid off.
Trivia is not so good. Yesterday we did not place but the day before, we took second. Shows you how much trivia we all need to learn. Maybe this leg we will do better.
Had dinner last night with Tom and Noel. Ate in Compass Rose and I enjoyed the Dover Sole. I think this is my all time favorite meal on the ship.
Muster drill and then Bob went up to take pictures of the sail away and I got ready for dinner. Cocktails in the Meridian Lounge where we met up with Lindsey (John Barron's wife). John is the cruise director and his wife and two boys joined the ship today. We met them all when John worked for Seaborne. That was about six years ago.
Dinner in Compass Rose where I had a beet salad and the veal piccata. All very good. This is the 25th year celebration cruise and several corporate men are on board. We are expecting that service will be a step up. And the food hot.
Our butler left today and our new butler did not arrive until late. He flew in from Indonesia. His plane was late so we met him in the norming of the next day. As you can tell, I write this blog usually a day or two late.
We watched a movie after dinner. "Marathon" about the Boston bombing. An okay movie. Then lights out.
